Aw man, I've been the same way. For about a year now I only focused on animation rather than drawing. It's actually ruined me as an artist. Also I'm glad you pointed out that animation schools don't care if you have animation experience. I didn't know that. Now I know I should focus more on art rather than animation. Good post Emrox!

Good point, man. It's good to see that some artists put their stuff out there and prepare for constructive criticism. Very often, I think it's hard to convey an idea, no matter how creative (you think) you are. and results are far from what you intended.
I like that you call everyone's little thing "avant-garde", cuz yeah, art IS weird. Not a lot of people come even close to truly represent reality, based on what anatomy and drapery should look like. So that means a fuck load of people are doing that "avant-garde" you're talking about... anyway, I'm kinda drifting off here... If I were you, I'd be comfortable in what I do. You're always gonna have your style, your signature, no matter how many drawing classes you attend.

Bro, i did the opposite thing, i just started to study a lot, fuckin drawing a lot of gestures, life drawing, etc, etc... And forgot bout the fun.. And all i can tell you is that if you are gonna get into improving your skills, just don't over do it, you'll get burn out and you wont even want to draw what you like, because the only act of taking a pencil will make you sick, it's just as bad as what happened to you, if not worse.
Never forget bout the fun and why you started to draw in the first place, it should never feel like a job.

i dont think i can see myself stuck in such limbo....yet
when i look at stuff i made just a year ago i cringe soo hard compared to my recent shit

HEY MAN THINKING ISN'T ALLOWED ON NEWGROUNDS

The precipice is just like how you learn as you did

Shit looks good though. You can try and hone your technical ability but as Darker777NG just said, don't forget the fun. I've been there and that was pretty awful. Play around, do presentable things, it'll get better little by little if you study just a bit, I think.
